The Dukan diet has been around for years in France and has been known to work for over 5 million French people to the point where even celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and model Giselle Bundchen have decided to participate and see amazing post-pregnancy results.
For those of you that are not familiar with the Dukan diet, you will find that it is a 4-phase, high protein, low calorie diet plan.
The four phases are:
- Attack,
- Cruise,
- Consolidation
- and Stabilization.
If you have ever tried a diet plan, you know that once you stop the diet, you begin to gain that weight back and this is what typically happens to 95% of people who try out a diet.
Well, French physician Pierre Dukan created the Dakin diet over 10 years ago as a treatment for obese people who will redesign your eating habits and help you permanently stabilize your weight.
The Dukan diet does not require you to count your calories
The great thing about the Dukan diet is that it is a diet plan that does not require you to weigh food or count your calories. In fact, you can pretty much eat as much as you want, at any time of day, with the only requirement that you are only eating lean protein.
The Dukan diet promises that if you follow their instructions you will be able to attain your “true weight”, which is a realistic weight that you can attain and maintain for the rest of your life.
Phase 1- Attack
The attack phase simply means that you can eat all that you want of lean protein, along with 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran and 1.5 liters of water daily. There are 68 high-protein foods that produce immediate and noticeable weight lost that you are free to eat. This is all that you are allowed to eat during that time.
Phase 2- Cruise
The cruise stage adds 32 vegetable that will allow you to reach your “true weight”. You will gradually begin to see that you are steadily losing weight by alternating your days with just pure protein and other days with protein and vegetables. The average length of this phase is based on a schedule of 3 days for each pound you want to lose.
Phase 3- Consolidation
The consolidation stage allows you to have unlimited protein and vegetables every day, and you can even have one piece of low sugar fruit, 2 slices of whole-grain bread, and 1 portion of hard cheese. This is the stage where you begin the lifetime commitment of eating the core diet of pure protein one day every single week.
Phase 4- Stabilization
The stabilization stage is basically the rest of your life. This is where you implement everything that you have learned in eating healthy in the previous stages.
Remember 3 steps of the Dukan diet
In order to keep your new, slimmer body, you will need to follow just a few, easy to remember steps:
- Eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran per day.
- Walk 20 minutes daily (or like the author says, take the stairs instead of the escalator and elevator whenever possible)
- One day a week have a “Phase 1” day where you will have pure-protein
The Dukan diet seems to be one of the most simplest and easy to implement diets that are out there these days and it can really help out someone who is not willing to leave a lot of their eating habits behind. With time, you will be able to see noticeable results if you put all of the phases to play and work together.
